About Us

History and Mission of The Fishin' Club Of Whidbey Island.

The Fishin' Club was founded in May of 1991, when a group of fishermen with varying skill levels and interests got together and established the basic goals and purposes of the fledgling organization. It was decided that the new club should be non-profit, family-oriented, non-political, educational, and should serve the community. Most of all, the fishermen wanted it to be FUN! One of their most important goals was to form a club where saltwater fisherman, freshwater fisherman, the old pro and the newcomer to the sport would all feel at home in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and good fellowship. Of course, as one member pointed out at the beginning,"A fishin' club ought to be a FISHIN' Club" and the new club had a name. The club has developed an impressive network of fund raising involving door prize raffles, auctions, our popular Pink Salmon Fishing Derby, and donations from individuals and local businesses. We have a very successful Holiday Food Drive every year which serves many local families needing a little extra help during the Holiday season. Our primary community service project is our Scholarship Program which enables several deserving Whidbey Island high school students to receive a monetary donation that will be used to continue their education in marine science and/or environme, ntal careers. The success of the club has been tremendous.
We have members in six different states and are excited about the new members that have joined us.

Our club meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 7:00pm
at the The Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club located at 3334 Brooks Hill Rd, Langley, WA 98260
